"The title of my work is Before and After. It may be somewhat abstract, but I wanted to think about where life starts and where it flows. To me, the process of life, being created and disappearing, which follows the natural law of circulation, was incredibly mysterious.

I wanted to express my ideas through the shape of the 'circle,' which has been considered to be the perfect shape since the Platonic school. The circle is the perfect shape to describe the natural law of circulation. I used it to express time. I put paint in a bottle and dripped it on the canvas slowly. To me, the circles piling up on the canvas gave me the illusion that I seemed to be creating stalagmites thousands of years old.

I paint the circles with gold or silver. I chose the color gold as a symbol of the preciousness and value of life. Some of the circles are hidden or not clear, and some of them stand out." -- Jeong, Hyun-Sook
